Economy downturn, or service downturn?
You know, the economy is bad. I think everyone is pretty much in agreement about that. Here is my question. What happened to quality products and service? At what point did we decide that we could make products that suck and incompetent people to sell them and somehow make money off of it. Home Depot got it’s start because they prided themselves on the service of their employees. You couldn’t walk in that place without ten people asking you if you needed help. Now, I walk in there asking for a nail, and no one even knows what I’m talking about. Or take McDonalds. They were the fast food kings. I go through the drive thru, that is supposed to be so convenient, and by the time I get out of there I could have cooked out a burger on the grill at my house three times. On top of everything their burger is mushed up everything but meat, and the people at the window can’t count your change out and are always rude. I am not saying I’m perfect, but I like to think that when I do business with someone that person deserves some level of respect. He has offered to give me his hard earned money for a product that I sell. If I want to get that business again it’s to my advantage to treat him well and give him a quality product that will not break two weeks from now. Why can’t other companies do the same. Could it be that some of our economy woes are people sick of crappie products?

Well, why do you think we are in this foreclosure crisis?!?! Instead of mortgage companies and creditors settling for smaller payments from people, they rudely demand every single penny from these people who have lost their jobs. When homeowners are faced with all or nothing and there’s no way to pay it all, they opt to pay nothing. You would think that companies would see that, but the incompetency has spread like a disease from customer service personnel all the way to top management. They are all idiots and everyone loses in the end. I blame this credit crisis on mortgage companies’ poor customer service attitudes.
Why do you blame the mortgage companies for demanding the money that the homeowner agreed to pay when they bought the house in the first place. Maybe the homeowner should have bought a house that was more compatible to the money they make. Instead people are buying houses that they could not afford. They bought them using these interest only loans and when it came time to pay the true payment, that they signed an agreement to pay, they could not afford it. Should the bank have lent these people money? Maybe not, but they were just making money like the rest of us. They explained up front what the payments were and the homeowner signed anyway. It’s called taking a risk. Hoping that the housing market doesn’t collapse and they come out on the winning side of things. Unfortunately it did and now the banks should be on the winning side of things. That’s how the free market works. You take risk, sometimes you win, but sometimes you lose.
