Personal Responsibility

Published by jbiggs at 9:34 pm under Politics Edit This

The idea of personal responsibility has become something that is extinct in the society we live in today. We have taken on the roll of a victim in every move we make. Let me define victim, it’s something or someone taking something away from you that was out of your control. Not something that you could control but chose not to. If we are fat, we fell victim to our genes or a thyroid problem. If kids can not sit and pay attention to every word a teacher says by the age of 3, then they must have A.D.D. If parents get a divorce, all you hear is one didn’t treat the other one right from both parties. Why is it so hard to say I’m fat because I like food more than I like exercise or my kid doesn’t pay attention well because he’s 3 FREAKING YEARS OLD? Worst of all is saying I’m wrong. Why is it so bad to be human? We make mistakes, it’s what we do. People do things they regret, they change their mind sometimes. Why can’t we just be honest and say it instead of trying to prove to everyone that we are right no matter what everyone else says. No one expects us to be perfect, we just expect you to except the consequences when your wrong, and take responsibility for your actions.
We live in a country that thrives because it was built on the principle of personal responsibility. You can be whatever you work to be. We are not going to stand in your way. With that freedom comes great responsibility, because they also said they were not going to do it for you or give it to you for free. Now having said that, I’m not against a helping hand when it is just that. When someone is doing all they can to be productive and it is just not paying off, I understand helping your fellow man when he is in need. But to give hand outs with no encouragement to help themselves is just stupid. Why would you reward someone for not doing their job. All your doing is encouraging them to go on being non-productive. Our founding fathers established this great nation to escape a government that limited them and their potential to think outside the box and be innovative, become great even. We have now come to a time when once again we find ourselves having to rise up and fight against big government who wants to make us dependent on them instead of them being dependent on us. We must stand up against the people who want to limit the freedoms that so many gave their lives to get. The people who want to destroy this great country as we know it today all for their own gain and power. Let us not forget those who gave us the freedom we have so taken advantage of. Take responsibility for your actions people, for if we don’t the government will do it for us.

Preach it! Love the idea of personal responsibility and would love it even more if it would become a popular concept :)

I completely agree. I think people should own up to their responsibilities more often. I think people should pay their credit card debt instead of declaring bankruptcy. I think insurance companies should accept every non-fraudulent claim. I would love it if the Neocons took responsibility for the economic crisis we’re in right now. (”We’re evil greedy bastards! Bwa ha ha!”) I would love it if Bush owned up to his mistakes, and said, “You know what? I screwed up big time. I think it’s time for me to step aside, so some people who know what they’re doing can have a go at this whole… runnin’ the world thing.” I absolutely agree, responsibility is important. Thanks for bringing light to this issue.
